Governor John Carney and the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) announced major upcoming changes to Delaware’s COVID-19 restrictions that will take effect on Friday, May 21. (for worship-Sunday, May 23rd)

One of the modifications is the capacity restrictions for houses of worship.

Our Bethel COVID-19 Task Force met last week and decided that we would eliminate our current member Sunday registration process to allow more members to attend. There will no longer be a pre-registration process.

As Bethel moves into Phase 2 of Reopening, we want to say to our Bethel Family… WELCOME BACK to in-person worship in our Bethel sanctuary.

Bethel will still be abiding by protocols set in place by our Bethel COVID-19 Task Force:

•Masking and social distancing will be required and enforced while on the church grounds and sanctuary, whether vaccinated or not.
•Attendees not feeling ill, or who have been exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive are asked to remain home and not attend worship for two weeks.
•Arrival time is 8:00 AM-8:30 AM for seating. Ushers, Ministerial Staff, and Stewards will assist with the open seating.
•Security will direct all attendees to come to the Fellowship Hall (first), they will complete a brief form (first-timers form), be screened then sent to the sanctuary for seating.
•Information and Education will be done via our text message system and website for access to all members.
•We are encouraging all fully vaccinated members to attend and bring their card with them to worship.
•We encourage those who are not vaccinated to consider it and they are as well invited to rejoin the worship. If they are not vaccinated, we ask that they obtain a COVID-19 test within the week before worship and come to worship only if their test is negative.

This is a special trial process that will be assessed weekly by the Task Force. In the event that COVID-19 cases begin to rise or we reach our social distancing capacity we will reevaluate and adjust accordingly.

TO Bethel AME Church

COVID-19 continues to be a concern in our community as it spreads across the state, country, and the world.  Therefore, we all must remain vigilant. The changes we have had to make in our worship experiences, Bible study and ministries; in our work and other routines in our daily lives are challenging, but these changes are essential and critically important. We must be diligent and consistent in the measures we take to stop the spread of this dangerous virus. The more steps you and your family can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the safer you will be.

Please follow the three Ws – Wear a mask (cloth facing covering); Wait six feet apart from others and Wash your hands!

Our prayers for a rapid and complete healing are with the community, especially those persons directly affected by this virus.

Grace and Mercy,

Rev. Dr. Silvester S. Beaman

We welcome you to Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church Wilmington, Delaware and invite you to share in the Bethel experience. We are an inner-city church whose vision is: “Fulfilling God’s Plan Doing Ministry.”

Our mission is “to foster the development of the congregation and neighborhood and enhance the quality of life for all God’s people through worship, inspiration, social needs and discipleship.” We believe that the greatest response to the grace, favor and mercies of God is to be an extension of His beneficence. Therefore, we offer to our members and the Greater Wilmington community a diverse and broad selection of ministries and initiatives. These ministries have been strategically developed to holistically minister to the individual spiritually, physically and socially.
